Good wind areas, which cover 6% of the contiguous U.S. land area, have the potential to supply more than one and a half times the total current electricity consumption of the United StatesUS DoE link
 
In 2005, Stanford University investigators concluded that there are enough land-based wind sites to produce 5 times more electricity than current total world energy use, and seven times the current total world electricity use.  It also notes that North America has more good wind sites than any other continent. article

Denmark already makes more than 20% of its electricity from wind and plans to increase this to 50% by 2025.

University of Utah

Campaigns for Sustainable Energy Program

Campaigns are being run by many groups at the university and elsewhere, including U of U colleges, departments, and offices, national conferences, and even a local grade schools. Campaigns seek to make their share of grid electricity come from wind sources or to become climate neutral.

Currently, the University of Utah is ranked 10th in the nation for total renewable energy purchased by the U.S. E.P.A’s Green Power Partnership Program.

Utah Clean Energy (UCE)

Utah Clean Energy is committed to a sustainable energy future through the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. Through advocacy, education, and uniting diverse constituencies, this organization promotes energy use that is balanced, more efficient, economically sound, and environmentally beneficial.

Western Resources Advocates (WRA)

Formerly the Land and Water Fund of the Rockies, the WRA was the primary environmental non-profit involved in the Wind Power Campaign.The WRA works on land, water and energy issues as an environmental law and policy organization.We worked with the coordinator of WRA’s Utah Wind Power Campaign.The WRA provided help through experience, information, and some financial support for things like printing costs.
