Recyclemania

RecycleMania 2008 Details

The University of Utah is participating in a recycling competition against other institutions nation-wide as well as our neighboring Utah Universities including BYU and Utah State.

The competition is based on the amount of paper and cardboard we recycle, so please look for blue bins all over campus and recycle!

Just follow our motto...

Put it in the Bin to help us win!!!

What to Recycle for RecycleMania

Office Pack Paper- most valuable paper!!!

Any white of light colored papers including pastels (Easter colors)

Envelopes, post-its etc.

Mixed Paper- When in doubt, mix it out!

Bright colored paper (you know, colors from the 80's!)

Newspapers, magazines

Facts about recycling

Nearly 40% of the campus waste stream is recyclable paper; other recyclables like aluminum, plastic, and glass make up 1%. The U of U is focusing on paper to reduce the total campus waste generated.

Over the summer we distributed over 5,500 personal recycling bins, 1,700 classroom and laboratory bins, and 400 curbside totes throughout campus.

Now we are relying on you to recycle your paper correctly and ensure the Program's success.
