Natural Gas station at the University of Utah is available for public use!

In the 2008 session, the Utah State Legislature passed HB 103, which provides that the Division of Fleet Services may allow certain private individuals and entities to purchase compressed natural gas through the state's fuel network under certain circumstances.

Quick FACTS!

  • The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station located at the University of Utah has been open to the Public since July 1, 2008.
  • The price is .879 cents per gallon.
  • To date (November 2008) there have been a total of 115 Public customers with 1,018 transactions for a total of 4,997 gasoline gallons equivalent (gge).

How does it work?

In order to purchase natural gas fuel, you must apply for a GasCard. Each individual who has been authorized to fuel a department vehicle must have a personal identification number (PIN). This number is your “electronic signature” for all fuel transactions. You will be asked for the odometer reading and you must record accurately. Incorrect entries are subject to fines by the State of Utah at a minimum of $50 per occurrence. You are then billed monthy by the state for your usage.
