Office of Sustainability Intern
Elsa Gustavson
Elspeth (Elsa) Gustavson is a senior at the University of Utah working towards Bachelor of Science degrees in Political Science and Gender Studies.
Elsa served as the Regional Director of the student group A.I.D. (Americans for Informed Democracy) and formed a partnership with SEED (Sustainable Environments and Ecological Design) in the Spring 2007 semester to organize a regional conference titled “Sustainable Living: Securing our Future” and several other events hosted in celebration of Earth Week.
Elsa was brought on the Office of Sustainability team as an intern for the Fall 2007 semester. In the past Elsa served as a Hinckley Institute of Politics intern for the ACLU of Utah and the Democratic National Committee. She was also published in the 2007 edition of the Hinckley Journal of Politics.
Elsa became involved in the sustainability movement because of her love for the deserts and mountains of Utah where she spends as much time as possible, weather and homework permitting. She always loves a good adventure and has climbed everything she could since she was tall enough to reach the low limbs of the trees in her backyard where she grew up in Connecticut. She will be completing her Gender Studies degree this December and will graduate with both of her degrees in May. If you ask her what she is going to do next, she will likely explain her plan to “leap into the wind and see where it takes me!”
